Across the Verizon community, we put innovation at the center of who we are and what we do. At Verizon Ventures, we’re proud to invest in and support startups that are developing innovative technologies and are excited to be involved in a Verizon initiative that opens the doors to support ideas that utilize powerful technology that come from anyone or anywhere. Now in its third year, the Verizon Powerful Answers Award today begins accepting submissions for 2015 and we are extremely proud to continue our tradition of offering innovators, developers and entrepreneurs an opportunity to leverage cutting-edge technology to create solutions that deliver impactful change. This award program challenges participants to put forward ideas that deliver technologically powerful answers to some of the world’s biggest problems, and awards $6 million in cash across 12 winners.
In addition to award money, the Powerful Answers Award winners receive additional value with exposure to Verizon subject matter experts and business units and an opportunity to participate in a Powerful Answers Award Accelerator program, which, for the 2014 winners, is taking place at BootUp Academy. The custom program is designed to strategically accelerate the growth of the award winner’s business , provide Verizon subject matter expert mentors to help develop a path for integration, distribution and marketing within a major corporation like Verizon and drive go-to-market strategies through intensive workshops and knowledge exchange sessions to learn best practices in business planning, product development, UX/UI design, communications, financing and growth hacking. What’s so rewarding about the contest for us is the chance to directly mentor these smart innovators and connect them to experts and leaders in the industry who can further these inspirational solutions into sustainable, meaningful companies.
This year’s program is seeking innovative ideas in three core categories:
Transportation: How can technology enable better, more efficient ways to reduce the complexities of transportation and distribution in the physical world? Sub-Categories for idea submission are: smarter driving, public transport and sharing, or logistics and distribution.
