As the investment arm of Verizon, we don’t often get the opportunity to share what we’re doing and showcase how we’re engaging with our portfolio to the rest of the organization. So, in an effort to show how Verizon Ventures works as an investor, partner, and contributor to the technology improvements our customers see on a regular basis, we hosted our first ever Startup Day.
We invited 20 of our portfolio companies to showcase their technology and share their journey with a variety of Verizon employees at our headquarters in Basking Ridge, New Jersey just last month. Throughout the day, attendees heard Verizon executives discuss emerging trends in the startup community and watched panels with companies such as Kinvey and Q-Sensei discuss topics including accelerators programs, software development, payments, and more.
Portfolio companies also demonstrated their cutting edge technology through a series of demos, providing a better understanding of how new partners within Verizon can participate and gain access to their technology through the Ventures Access Platform. A one-stop shop for a variety of services developed by our portfolio companies, the Verizon Access Platform is a sandbox for Verizon developers to validate new product ideas or enhance existing Verizon platforms.
A successful event gathering our colleagues and companies within the Verizon Ventures family, we look forward to surpassing this year’s Startup Day with another. Check out some of the discussions that took place:
