Announcing Verizon's Built on 5G Challenge: We're looking for the best & the brightest in 5G

Verizon is excited to announce that it’s now accepting submissions for its Built on 5G Challenge. The challenge is a nationwide search for companies creating the best products, services, and applications that will bring the true power of 5G to life.

The winning team will receive $1 million, and the second and third prize teams will receive $500,000 and $250,000, respectively. All winning teams will be given an opportunity to access to Verizon’s 5G Labs to further develop their submissions.

This initiative goes hand-in-hand with Verizon Ventures’ mission to find and invest in startups with the ability to integrate with Verizon’s strategic mission to further 5G technology. We invest in companies addressing a range of areas including emerging and frontier technologies such as multi-access edge computing, IoT, security, smart cities, transportation, AR/VR and AI/ML. These all have a common theme of 5G-enabled capabilities.

The Built on 5G Challenge will take a more specific approach and focus on ideas that use 5G and related empowering technologies like low-latency edge computing to address the biggest challenges in business and society.

More about the challenge:

  • In order to be eligible, teams must be part of a U.S. company that has 200 or fewer employees and meet the eligibility requirements in the Official Rules.
  • Submissions will be open until July 15, 2019 and the winners will be announced in October 2019.
  • Applicants will need to show how their ideas use technology to impact positive change – not only in how their solutions create new utility, but also in how their businesses are run. Challenge areas include: industry, immersive experiences and moonshots.

We’re looking forward to seeing what innovative technologies come our way. For full contest details on eligibility, requirements and prizes, innovators should visit verizon5glabs.com/builton5g.
