Verizon Ventures invests in Light Field Lab to build the holographic ecosystem in the 5G future

The technologies of the future - like holographic objects that float in space without head-mounted accessories - are fueling the content and entertainment platforms of tomorrow.

One such company, Light Field Lab, is building a holographic ecosystem and real-world holographic experience that could present next generation business and consumer opportunities.

I’m proud to announce Verizon Ventures’ participation in Light Field Lab’s Series A - together with Samsung Ventures, Comcast, Liberty Global Ventures, NTT Docomo Ventures, Inc. and HELLA Ventures among others.

We’re excited about this investment because this technology pushes the holographic ecosystem forward, connecting with content creators, next generation technologies and furthering the future of entertainment. Light Field Lab includes modular video walls for live events and large-scale installations and will initially target large format location-based entertainment venues as well as a version of its holographic technologies for the consumer market.

Adding to this, Verizon’s new 5G network features high bandwidth, low latency, speed and throughput to deliver next generation content. With the reach provided by Verizon’s network, we’re providing a platform for entrepreneurs to leverage global reach to help build the future of connectivity.

Congratulations to the Light Field Lab team. I’m excited to see what’s in store.
